Awaken! - Transcendent Activation: The Love Amplification Channel
Awaken!is the classically psychedelic alias of Los Angeles resident and modern-day hippie Jesse Rakusin. Despite the flooding New Agey implications, there are very few electronics in the works of Awaken! and it’s pretty detached from the rest of the modern, drone-loving scene. Instead, Rakusin crafts lo-fi, amateurish bluesy anthems kept in a lysergic, eastern fog straight from the 1960’s. Outsiderish lyrics fuse with fuzzy guitars and snakelike basslines, becoming a sort of eternal summer jams that are not fixed in a certain time but rather float in between the eras, becoming a gospel for both the past and the future generations.
